Ryujinsai Ceremony

We celebrated our annual Ryujin-sai ceremony on January 17th with Keno’s father officiating. This ceremony is held for community members, including local businesses, farmers and fisherman in order to pray for an auspicious year and good harvests.

Dragons rule the sea which impacts the ecology and economy of Oga peninsula.

Sutras are read in a special fashion by being fanned out looking like an accordion. Symbolically reading the lengthy sutras, priest chants for approximately 20 minutes.
