Dairyuji is a Soto-shu Zen Buddhist temple located on the Oga peninsula in northern Japan. A working temple for the local community, Dairyuji is also open to visitors. With a rich and varied history, we hope to offer insight into Japanese Buddhism and a place to unwind during your travels.

Water Garden
Dairyuji is famous for its beautiful water garden and views of the Sea of Japan. The original tea room and garden are called `Rakusuitei` which means `relaxing by water`. Traditional Japanese architecture, with sliding doors, encourages you to enjoy a close relationships with the surrounding environment. Each of the four seasons bring a stunning view.

Oga, Japan
Located in Akita prefecture, in the northern Tohoku region of Japan, Oga values local traditions and sustainable living with the land. You can enjoy the both mountains and coastline of the Sea of Japan. Dairyuji is within walking distance from the Oga train station or can be accessed by car. Directions are here.
