Dairyuji is a Zen Buddhist temple located on the Oga peninsula in northern Japan. A working temple for the local community, Dairyuji is also open to visitors. We hope to offer a peaceful place to relax, enjoy a cup of green tea and reconnect with yourself.

Mindfulness Retreat

Join us for a weekend mindfulness retreat of Yoga and Meditation. Create the time to reconnect with yourself in a peaceful environment. Experience life in a traditional Buddhist temple, eat Japanese food and relax in a mindful way. Retreats are held twice a year, in spring and fall. Zen garden

Water Garden

Dairyuji is famous for its beautiful water garden and views of the Sea of Japan. The original tea room and garden are called `Rakusuitei` which means `relaxing by water`. Traditional Japanese architecture, with sliding glass doors, encourages you to enjoy a close relationships with the surrounding environment. Each of the four seasons bring a stunning view.

Dairyuji is within walking distance from the Oga train station or can also be accessed by car. Located in Akita prefecture, the northern part of the Tohoku region of Japan, Oga is nestled along the coastline of the Sea of Japan. Directions are here.
